About Nelson Jarrin

Nelson Jarrin is a husband, father, community leader, lifelong Republican, and candidate for the Texas House of Representatives. An attorney with over a decade of experience in law and public policy, Nelson provides legal counsel for a national communications firm. Nelson previously spent six years working for a nonprofit dedicated to improving mental health services in Texas.

Nelson was born in Beaumont, Texas and raised in the suburbs of Houston. Nelson’s father and grandparents legally immigrated to the United States from Ecuador and worked to instill the values of hard work and perseverance in Nelson at a young age. When Nelson was six years old, his father died of a sudden heart attack. Nelson was forced to grow up quickly and become the man of the house, while his mother worked nights and weekends at a local department store.

Nelson earned his law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School, where he graduated magna cum laude and served as President of the Hispanic Law Students Association. Before law school and his work in the private sector, Nelson graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in economics.
